SITE Nordic Residency is an initiative from SITE and the foundation for a new Nordic Residency Center at Konstverket in Farsta, made possible by support from Nordic Culture Point – Nordic/Baltic Mobility Programme.
SITE Nordic Residency focuses specifically on artists and collectives working in the contemporary dance and performance field who research new formats and methods in interaction with the audience and the local community. The artists will work at SITE for 3-4 weeks each and arrange several public events during their residency.
The Nordic Residency 2021-2022 invited Olmeulmad Collective from Estonia and Body Cartography/Olive Bieringa & Otto Ramstad from Norway.
Olmeulmad Collective
At the heart of the surreal world and expressions of “Olmeulmad” is a movement that affirms the bodily experience, imaginative everyday elements, and place-specific experiments with bodies, space, and materials. The core of “Olemeulmad” dance collective consisting of Age Linkmann, Arolin Raudva, Maarja Tõnisson, and Raho Aadla, was formed during dance studies in the Department of Performing Arts in Viljandi Culture Academy of the University of Tartu and the group took the name “Olmeulmad” in August 2014.
”We are excited to start the residency in SITE, firstly because we can’t wait to start creating and developing our new work, but also to have a space free of our everyday rhythms to fully commit to each other and share also the mundane moments with each other as the mundane magic is the base for our work. We have been friends and co-creators for a long time but as we are all freelance performing artists, it is a true blessing and a luxury to have a space for a whole month for creating and living together.
In addition to our own plans and doings, we would be very happy to meet the local artists, producers and experience the art scene. We are interested in getting to know the system of the performing arts in Sweden and also finding out what changes are happening in the field.”

Olive Bieringa & Otto Ramstad – BodyCartography Project
Olive Bieringa founded BodyCartography Project in 1998, which she co-directs with Otto Ramstad. The mission of BodyCartography Project is to engage with the vital materiality of our bodies and minds. Together they create dance in urban, domestic, wild, and social landscapes. Their work is rooted in experimental dance, somatics, and socially engaged practice and play.
”We are very excited to begin our residency at SITE. We will continue the development of our work Resisting Extinction, which we began around and in the Oslo fjord, in a new community and landscape. We would love to have many different people join us as test audiences. We are cultivating practices to support our collective evolution, crack open our denial, and allow our bodies to process this ecological crisis we have created.”
