Mille Bostedt works as a performer, writer, and director based in Stockholm. They explore the body from an anthropomorphic and transhumanist perspective through a multidisciplinary practice. In their performance concept Progressive Genitalia – a futuristic company that creates your dream genitals with genetic engineering- they sculpt in silicone to reshape the sex and the body. Mille often choose to work in collective processes and creates works together with researchers, musicians, and choreographers. Their work has been shown at the University of Chicago (Chicago), Zé dos Bois Gallery (Lisbon) Weld (Stockholm) Tata Gallery (Tokyo) Folkteatern (Göteborg) VF Dalston (London) 30 Formiche (Rome) among other places. Mille holds a BA in Acting from Stockholm University of the Arts and is currently studying scriptwriting at Alma Education.

What does the SITE residency enable you to do?
– I hope for the residency to be a place for both collective processes and for my own writing. I imagine it to allow for longer explorations over one year in contrast to the often short and pressured productions related to fringe theatre and performances. I am curious to get to know the residency group and hope to follow their work and share mine. I also hope to gain new methods of how to structure my freelance work by having a physical place to go to and establish a routine for a practice.
What are you working on right now?
– Right now I am creating a surreal science fiction musical based on my performance conceptprogressive Genitalia. The musical explores a mysterious dysphoria that is not only about gender identity but about the whole identity as a human being. It is a collective creation where Tami T writes the music, Shirley Harthey Ubilla choreographs and Amanda Hedman Hägerström andLeffe Kronlöf makes the costume. I am also developing a play for teenagers called Biohack me and a feature film called Hybrid.
How would you like to further develop during your residency at SITE?
– I hope to create fun and playful ways to explore thematics in my work both collectively and on my own. Find a practice and a routine for my work that is sustainability over time and to gain skills to lead a group towards a production.
