From the night side of the curtain
I hear creeping star

Rihpin njálmev vaj gillgin hållåt ja tjuavvga gålgåj ulgus (Agorasant eu cegau i siarad ac arllwysodd y golau mas) (De öppnade munnen för att tala och ljuset strömmade ut) (They opened their mouths to speak and the light poured out) is a collection of light gathered in Norrbotten in late May 2023 through cyanotypes, plant extracts, myth and conversation. The installation invites you to immerse yourself in the colour blue, in a series of songs and a scent made for this occasion.
Materials:
Cyanotype prints: Cyanotypes are one of the oldest forms of photography. By painting surfaces with light sensitive chemicals and then exposing them to light it creates deep blue and white images.
Sound: Voices recorded in a sauna
Perfume: Birch leaf tincture, white birch essential oil, tree moss absolute, melonal natural isolate, vodka.
Duration: 25 minutes
Siriol Joyner and Alice MacKenzie have been duetting since 2019 making dances, sound, scent and books. They make works that are sensorial capsules, created from materials gathered in a place: plants, sounds, movement, colour. They work in Welsh, English and Swedish, co-writing poems and scores to guide their process. Their work has been commissioned by Northern Sustainable Futures, Nya Nya Norrland and shown at c.off in Stockholm. They have been in residence at Dansplats Skog and SITE.
